15th March 2013: Egyptian Poster

For my part of the 13 posters, i am doing one based on egyption curses. With this i researched and found that people believed if you touched a tomb and opened this up you will be then sent a curse forever and eternity.
"The Curse of the pharaohs refers to the belief that any person who disturbs the mummy of an Ancient Egyptian person, especially  pharaoh is placed under a curse

One in particular, the most famous mummy and tombs is Tutankhamun. KV62 is the tomb of Tutankhamun in the Valley of the Kings (Egypt), which became famous for the wealth of treasure it contained. The tomb was discovered in 1922 by Howard Carter. The belief in a curse was brought to many people's attention due to the sometimes mysterious deaths of a few members of Howard Carter's team and other prominent visitors to the tomb shortly thereafter. Carter's team opened the tomb of Tutankhamun (KV62) in 1922, launching the modern era of Egyptology. After looking into this i decided to base my poster around tutankhamun.
I created an emulsion print onto calico, transferring an image i found of ancient egypt wall paintings. This became my background, which i layered different drawings on top on tracing paper. The first being the all seeing eye which i did in a black thick line so you would see it clearly, and on top of this i draw the face of tutankhamun. I did this first on paper with pencil in which i took the linear outline from this and then placed this on top of the other 2 layers.
finishing this off, i stitched a basic stitch around the entire piece of card and then attaching the designed back panel on the back.
With this finished poster i just now need to attach the scroll with the title and also the number of my card in roman numerals however we will have to do this monday as we will then be all together so they will all be the same.
