Flowers; update so far

Well its nearly 5 or 6 weeks in, since we have started our new topic within art. I have definatly developed into what i can see this project will turn into.
My ideas have totally change from my previous blog, with the artist influences and what i have intended to go onto.

I started off, by doing the usual techniques which for me are the strongest and most effective.
I did the usual Cellotape prints and emulsion prints, and also trapped flowers within teabags and also flattened them and laminated them. I also did a few observational drawings, in oilpastels of flowers, and finally took several photographs. These photographs which i feel are very effective, and have captured great photographs of the flowers in great detail and different composistions.

I then started to stitch into these photographs, making this more texual and on some pieces creating a foreground and back ground from which aspects i have sewn.
I also sewn, the pressed laminated flowers, and also cellotape prints.

I then developed onto using wire to transfer the photograph into just a simple line structure with wire. this would be the basic outline and the linear prospective of the flower.
I gradually built ip several petals to create more of an effective piece. ( influence by william morris)

My first artist link is William morris. In his work the flowers and patterns are mostly displayed through linear lines to empathise their shape and give it tone and depth. This is what i am extracting to put into my own work.
I first started sewing into flowers using lines to relate to williams work.
I also looked at one piece of work by him, with the trellace and flowers intertwining.
I re-created this work, by also using trellace but making the flowers out of wire and added leaves which i had sewn into.

From creating simplistic flowers on my trellace piece, i went more into detail on this aspect.
I observed a photograph of a flwoer and re created this using different thickness' of wire and using small beads to give more delacacy and colour.

check out "FLOWER "page for photographs of my work.

I've finally decided a theme !

Well guys i have finally decided on a theme for the next 6 weeks of AS level art, and hopefully will carry on to be my frist project in Alevel. I have chosen flowers, rather than tribal. Even though how much i wanted to choose tribal, i dont think it has to much strech and lee way to use for a long project. Hence choosing Flowers.
I have started taking pictures of flowers, when i stayed in newquay and have got some ideas to use, and slo some artists.

Claes Oldenburg as an influence with the giant structures which i would like to do, with this idea linking to surrealism also. Extreme sizes of flowers, which i would sculpture but also take photography which is my strength, with the flowers towering over a person.

Speaking of surrealism, i would use Rene margitte, more so the painting with the man and the apple. I would recreate this but with flowers instead of the fruit.
Another artist idea would be yayoi Kusama. I love her surreal work, and would like to interprate this within my own work.
Also barbra Kruger. With this idea of intreptrating text, which i would want to do. Phrases that you would relate to that particular flower/ Eg; Daisys " He loves me , he loves me not" roses" Roses are red" ect . I would sew these phrases into my scultpures, or add them into my photos ect .

I would consider using, textural mediums. Oilpastels and watercolour and Acrylic, cellotape and other ways of printing i would consider in this project :)

music inspiration

ive had an idea whilst watching B.O.B Nothin' on you "'s music video, and i love the style of how the video is presented, like white background ripped and being placed ontop of a background,
hence me writing it on here so id remeber to try and interpret this idea in my own work :) x

Themes help??

NEW THEMES?

So now i am trying to figure out my new theme for now A2 Level Artcombined.
I first though of going for a "tribal theme". I love the idea of the blocks of colours and combining shapes to create the intreging jewellry they were. I had an idea of actually making this, and also using paint to recreate it, body paint on someones body.
I love this composistion of this image below, and love the jewellry, and this would be a starting point to my tribal theme if i carry on with this idea.
Also i was inspired for this idea by "kelis Acapella." The costumes she wears in this are just amazing. I Love the idea of these costumes she is wearing above. The neck piece i would want to recreate in my style.

Another idea that i thought of is a Natural Form of " Flowers". Also including the idea of Surrealism. Having ideas, for example a Daisy. Making this to a extreme size, and taking photographs of these larger than a person, by the angle of my camera. Also more ideas for this theme, would be Creating these "flowers" at a large scale.? The colours of pop art ect.

I want to create something contexual as that i would be able to create more structual pieces as that is my stronger aspect to my work.
any ideas?

Artists.

at the moment im creating a powerpoint, to analyze the main artists that i have considered within my exam project "poker". The artists i were inspired by were Neville Brody and Jennifer Collier, very different and contrasting artists i know.
i have to explain, what they do, and what are their inspirations, and how i have used them to inspire my work, and to conclude how they are similar to one another.
This week we have to add on, a few more slides on , medium, technique, colour and composition of the artists work.

Themes?

We are going to be starting our new theme for another project soon, and i am confused on what to pick. I am interested in creating some sort of sculpture for the final piece at the end of the project but i do not know what on. Speaking to some people, surrealism could be a theme, and maybe using the forests and trees and twigs to create a surreal dress as the final product. However i feel that may be to close on my other project of little red riding hood, with the use of forests ect.
Another idea, is the 1930s 1940s housewives, and how they lived, with all the old advertisement of the stereotypical woman. That may be a strong idea however i feel that may be ahrd to find objects relating and to take photographs of such things.
mmmmm..
